Field Experience- Spring 2019
I spent my first field experience at Parkway School in Boone, NC. I worked with the Parkway Propel Program that was focused on helping tutor middle school students with homework needs In an after-school setting. This helped me develop skills with one on one interaction specifically working with geography and cartography.
Middle Creek Fellows- Spring 2019
One of my greatest experiences was being a part of the Inaugural class of Middle Fork Diversity Fellows with Winston Salem State University. This was a semester-long experience where fellows from both schools read on diversity issues in schools, met for pedagogical talks at each University and visited schools in a variety of settings. From this experience, I gained a better understanding of how to manage different classrooms to benefit students that have different levels of difference.

Social Studies Conference- Spring 2019
As a part of furthering my professional development, I went with a group of my peers to visit the North Carolina Council Social Studies Conference. I have attended Professional Development before but this was a different and more enriching experience for me. The specialization of resources there surprised me and provided me with a reference for how I can further my education after graduation and well into my career.
Washington DC Trip-Spring 2019
As a part of my ACES Scholarship, I visited the Nation's Capital with my peers. As a part of the trip, I visited the PBS headquarters as well as Sacred Heart School. I was also able to visit the Library of Congress and the National Archives to view the Declaration, Bill of Rights and the Constitution. From this trip, I gained a better understanding of the voucher system in education as well as experience the nation's history firsthand.
